The Gurganus Surname DNA project
The Gurganus Surname DNA project may be able to help us to determine the origins of the name.
The project collects Y-DNA test results - the Y chromosome passes from male to male to male, and thus
tracing the surname as long as it is passed from a father to son.
Only males with the Gurganus (or Gurganious or other variation) name are helpful at this point.
If you are female or not a Gurganus, but have male Gurganus relatives, send on the information. They
need not be interested in doing the research work to be able to contribute and benefit from the results.
