Abraham Denton III married Elizabeth (middle name maybe Ann) Hogg and had one child John. She died.
Then Abraham Denton III married Elizabeth Hogg's younger sister Mourning Hogg, both daughters of Gideon Hogg and Judith (possibly Pittman) Hogg.
Abraham III and Mourning (Hogg) Denton had ten (10) or eleven (11) children: Sarah "Sally"; Elizabeth "Bettie"; Isaac (I'm not sure about Isaac); NANCY MOURNING DENTON 1776-1855 d. White County, TN that married Samuel Alexander Moore, Jr. 1770-1845 d. White County, TN (my several-great-grandparents); Samuel; Abraham Denton IV; Jerimiah "Big Jerry" Denton; Margaret "Peggy" Denton; Elijah; Agnes; and Martha Denton.
Several descendants of Abraham Denton III and his father-in-law Gideon Hogg have joined the NSDAR. Both men are connected to the American Revolution at least through public service -- I don't have my records handy right now. It is easy to contact the DAR and they can help. The chapter that I belong to has the most wonderful group of ladies that I have ever met all in one place. This past year, two sisters that are descendants of Abraham III joined the chapter that I belong to.
Hope this is of help. The Denton genealogy site created by the late Sue Montgomery Cook is wonderful. Before she died, I sent her copies of birth and death records to show her my connection to the Dentons.
http://www.dentongenealogy.org Sue died July 15, 2006 -- so suddenly. I am so glad that her family is still maintaining the site. I never got to meet Sue, but I corresponded with her a number of times. She was a great lady. |
